FINALLY! A Republican I Can Respect & Actually LIke!!

Watch this video! Ron Paul, Republican from Texas, speaks truth to power. He called out Rudy Guiliani during the Republican Primary debates and is the closest thing they have to a "true" Republican on the ballot list. Of course, he gets trashed by Faux News and the other talking heads, or not given the same amount of air time. That's a same, because if he did actually get the Republican nomination, I might actually vote for him.

This guy is how Republicans USED to be!!! Ron Paul sounds like my Dad. . .in other words, actually makes sense, understands all the complex issues, is not beholden to the Christo-facists who have hijacked the Republican party, and had policy ideas that would actually work and benefit all and not just the extreme rich. It was so refreshing to listen to this!

Sleep Progress Notes

It's been 36 days since I started on my 60 day quest for sleep. (Started here.) Just a reminder of what I was committing to during these 60 days.

1. No alcohol
2. No caffiene
3. No chocolate
4. Avoid dessert and processed sugars

I figured that it was time for a litte update.

1. Unfortunately, I got disqualified from the sleep trial. After the first night of sleep's results came in, apparently I didn't match what the drug company's was looking seeking. They had strict requirements and I guess I slept to well that night or something. Even though disqualified, I decided to stay with my decision to change for the 60 days.

2. I did break once and had alcohol, chocolate and a bit of caffiene. My girlfriend and I had travelled to Ohio to be with her family for Passover. To anyone that knows Passover tradition, you can't get through the dinner without drinking four glasses od wine. In her family, the two big holidays are Passover and Thanksgiving. Trying to get through either following a diet ain't going to happen. I knew that it was going to happen, discussed it with my girlfriend and decided to add another day to the 60 to make up for it.

3. I shaved my head with the clippers on April 1st, as you all saw. 4 days later, I shaved it to the skin with a razor blade. The last time was on Sunday, April 8th. I've since been letting it grow back. I have a few observations of the experience.

- I was worried, like most men with thinning hair, of what I'd look like without my hair. Would I still think I looked good? When my head was smooth and I looked in the mirror, I saw that I still had the same eyes. My smile was still there. I was still me. And since I have liked and loved me for a long time, having no hair made no difference. Now I realize that this is an infinitely harder place to come to if you are a young woman; as our society places so much importance on beauty and having you hair done right is a key part. But getting to that place is something.

Of course, now my hair has been growing back. And I do NOT like seeing that my hair is really thinning. When it was a little longer, I was able to cover that a bit. Yeah, I'll be shaving it bald again real soon!

4. After the first three weeks, I didn't lose ANY weight. So I've started The Abs Diet with my girlfriend. It's a six program, to start. After the first week, I've lost 2lbs. Woo-hoo!! The ultimate goal is not to lose that much weight, but to lower my body weight percentage and work towards overall health.

5. Now the sleep. I guess that's the most important part. Last week I have four consecutive nights where I slept from 11am to 6am. I haven't had that in like forever!! I've been trying to keep consistent with taking melatonin to help and it has. I just probably need to work a little harder in making my sleep environment more conducive to better sleep. Also, I know as I integrate a full workout routine to my diet, starting this week, I'll probably sleep even better.

So now as I finish this update, I'll leave you. . .to go to bed. To sleep, perchange to dream. . .
