Happ Winter Solstice!!

Today is the Winter Solstice, the darkest day of year for the Northern Hemisphere. Interesting how my life is paralleling the seasons. I feel like I am in a dark time. Now, Spidey-friends, don't worry too much for me. I just feel like I have been in a rut for the past month or so. There have been some awesome happens in my life, but overall I am haven't been satisfied with the day to day path of my life.

I am tired of my job. They ask way too much work for the position, without giving competive pay. Since moving out to Hickvile, I have been losing 2.25-2.5 hours of my life to commuting to work. And since I am driving, and not taking public transportation, I can't use that time productively to read, write or sleep. The other day, traffic was so bad, it took over two hours to get home!! Total time in the car that day was 3.25 hours.

I know this sounds like a lot of complaining over little things, (there's more than just the traffic) but those little things have added to be quite frustrating.

But like the reminders that the celebrations of the Solstice give us, I know it can't stay dark for ever. Christmas, derived from pagan traditions no matter what Christitans may try to tell you, tells us this. Just about every tradion, even the date of December 25, comes from a non-Christian source. The date of December 25th is significant because it is the birthday of Mithra, a god-man that also died and rose from the dead. He, and others, are related to the sun and December 25th was selected as his birthday because it is the first day after the solstice that you can really tell that the day is getting longer. The sun is being reborn.

And so shall I. My life, no different than nature, runs with the seasons. A few months ago, I wrote about the fall and harvest. Today I write about the winter. Change is coming. The sun will come back. It always does.
